Though Epilepsy May Hold It’s Sway

In the depths of night, where shadows creep,

A soul wrestles with a restless sleep.

Beneath the moon's soft, silver glow,

Lies a heart burdened by a relentless foe.

With each fleeting breath, a silent prayer,

For respite from the storm's cruel glare.

Yet in the stillness, a tempest stirs,

As seizures come, like thunder's blur.

In the grip of chaos, they sway and fall,

Caught in a dance, a tumultuous thrall.

Limbs convulse in a silent plea,

As waves of torment crash relentlessly.

Through the haze of pain, they cling to hope,

In the face of darkness, they learn to cope.

With courage as their guiding light,

They rise again, ready to fight.

For in the depths of their trembling frame,

Resides a spirit untouched by shame.

Though epilepsy may hold its sway,

Their resilience shines bright as day.

So let us stand with hearts aglow,

In solidarity, let compassion flow.

For in their struggle, we see the grace

Of a soul unbroken, in its sacred space.

Epilepsy definition and treatment: Epilepsy can be characterized as a seizure disorder that causes recurring seizures. Symptoms can vary from person to person: losing complete awareness, some completely staring in a trance, or even repeatedly twitching their arms and legs. Some symptoms can include temporary confusion, uncontrollable jerking movements using limbs, and loss of consciousness (“Epilepsy”, 2023). Treatment can reduce or completely stop seizures, with medicines called anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs), surgery to remove a small part of the brain that is causing the seizures, as well as a device to control the seizures inside the body (“Epilepsy Treatment”, 2023).
