The shadows linger where the light has fled,
A voice forbidden whispers in my ear,
A world within where trembling dreams are bled,
And every thought muddled unclear.
This broken mirror contorts a face severe,
Reflections bent by fears that never die,
A labyrinth where madness stalks near,
The mind adrift beneath a fractured sky.
What phantom hands pull strings within my head?
What specters haunt the edge of my despair?
Each word I speak returns with the weight of dread,
A mocking echo cold and insincere.
Solitude remains my solace mere,
Each fleeting moment peace dares not supply,
For silence brings a chorus I must hear,
The mind adrift beneath a fractured sky.
If only I could silence what I have said,
Dismiss the thoughts that cruelly interfere.
The scars are carved by things I have only read,
By whispers woven from the shadows near.
Through fleeting love might cast its rays sincere,
Their warmth departs into the same austere,
The mind adrift beneath a fractured sky.
Cage of my mind, release me from this fear,
Unbind my soul before I cry why,
Restore the calm that once I held so dear,
The mind adrift beneath a fractured sky.
This ballade explores the experience of living with schizophrenia, painting a vivid picture of a mind lost in confusion and fear. Through haunting imagery of broken mirrors and creeping shadows, it captures the disorientation, isolation, and relentless inner turmoil individuals with schizophrenia face day to day.
